Fender PJ Mustang with buzz when not touching

Hey everyone,

I recently took my EMG GZR PJ pickups out of my 2018 Fender PJ Mustang to put in another bass I was using more frequently, and I've been trying to get the original pickups back in place. I have gone through a number of permutations of wiring but no matter what I do, I can't get electronic buzzing to go away when I'm not touching it. I did not have this problem with the GZRs. Like my other passive basses, I have shielding foil in the cavity, and I have ground going from the tone pot to screw fastened to the shielding. Nothing seems to stop the buzz when I'm not touching. I can touch all elements - the switch, strings, control plate, bridge, the shielding foil, all stop the buzz, but when I release - BZZZZZZZ.

Can anyone assist?
