Hello everybody,

Since a year or two i own a 1978 Fender Precision bass which is refinished. I knew that when i bought it and thought that the rest of it was all original: serial number matched with sticker underneath the pichguard, pots look genuine etc. But when i was shielding the inside of the bass last week i took the pickup out and saw that it has got 'Gotoh' printed on the shielding plates! So i checked out some photo's on the internet and the pickup itself looks like a Fender one.

Maybe there are people active on this forum who have more knowledge of this stuff then i have and could check out the pictures i made. The pickup has some numbers on it, maybe a date or serial number. I also found this sticker on the inside of the pickup cavity. Thanks in advance!

That does look like the original pickup, although it's definitely been worked on, and I don't recall ever seeing a shielding plate in the 79 Precision I bought a few years ago and flipped, so I guess he added it just because he thought it should have it. Whatever.

Nice pic of Norman Fell BTW.
