Fender Precision Bass '57 reissue 1982

Hi,
I recently bought a Fender Precision bass '57 reissue 1982 (Fullerton), 2-tone sunburst. I have a doubt about the wood used for the body, looking through the web it seems hard to know if it has an alder or an ash body.

Can anyone help me with this?

If it's sunburst, it's most likely to be alder. In 1956 Fender started using alder for sunbursts because they worked better with that finish. The current American Vintage '57 reissues are alder in sunburst and ash in white blonde.

Including the Japanese ones? I saw a 1989 sunburst '57 RI which is MIJ. Is it alder or basswood???

all of the AV RI burst ones are alder. regarding the the MIJ/CIJ ones, most of them were alder but i have seen basswood ones too.
