Fender Precision Bass Tuning Machine Replacement Issues

Hey all!

I bought a beautiful roasted maple vintera neck for my precision bass, and went to assemble everything and realized my old American standard tuning machines wouldn't fit (the headstock didn't have holes for the pins). So I ended up ordering the 70s vintage tuners, and the bushings didn't fit into the holes...

So now I'm curious, a music store near me has the American vintage bass bushings, which should fit into this headstock, yes? I'm planning on grabbing those tomorrow, but does anyone know if the 70s vintage tuners will fit properly into the American vintage bushings? Or is this going to force me to sell the 70s ones and get the pure vintage ones that tune backwards?

I couldn't find any info on this specific situation, and I hope somebody can give me peace of mind.

Vintera use pure vintage reverse and are drilled for them. Find replacements for that if you don’t like reverse. Hipshot makes them.

The vintage bushings from Fender are the correct fit, although you may have to ream the holes a little bit bigger to get them in there. Don't force them in if they're really tight. A roasted neck will crack. This has been covered on TalkBass in the past.
The 70s tuners will fit through those bushings. They don't have the same screw pattern as the vintage reverse tuners on the back of the headstock, though.
