FENDER Precision Special 1982: i have a question about it

Hi guys, sorry for my bad english, i have a Fender Precision Special, made in April 1982.

This series have a gold hardware, and a active/passive switch, etc...

the neck is a one-piece of maple, but i don't know what is the wood of the body, because is covered with an Olympic White color.

the bass weight is about 4.2 Kg (circa 9.25 lbs), and there's a "big hole" for the electronic and battery....so i supposed that the wood is ASH.

is that correct?

there is a thread about this bass in the forum?

Sounds about right. Should have a matching headstock too, correct?

yes of course , it have a matching headstock (Olympic White finish)

(in Italy i have ever seen a Blue and Red finish, but none in OlympicWhite finish like mine (and i know there's also a Black finish with a Rosewood neck)

Yes, they were ash bodies. There was also a the Walnut Precision Special which had the same electronics. The Walnut ones however had walnut bodies with a clear finish, black pickguard, and a walnut neck.

Yes most definitely the infamous hefty northern ash that was typical of that era. My Special is also a white '82, and weighs 10.8 lbs.

Hefty Ash is correct.
I had a Blue P-Special.
It weight almost 12 lbs.

thanks guys, i have another question about it:

my Gold Bridge haven't "fender" logo, but i have ever seen this logo on all P special's Bridges...and the material seems not brass, but simple gold crome metal...???

Mine bridge has no logo. I've seen plenty of both.

Here's mine being used live about 6 months ago....LPB, 1983 if memory serves and my bridge has Fender stamped on it....as has the replacement bridge I picked up ( I also acquired 2 spare preamps for it over the years!!!)

I think Fender should consider making a USA P-Bass Special again. The MIM is OK, but those look intense. I think gold hardware, matching headstocks and most importantly an active/passive switch would sell.

Id buy one.

Caca de kick, please, can you post me an image about your truss-rod screw, in the low of the neck? i think my truss-rod is at "end limit"

My bass is kept stored at the folk's place two States away, so I can't take any specific pics of it.
But I know my truss rod nut is flush with the opening, like a brand new bass would have. Between my uncle (was the original owner) and myself, that fat neck never needed adjusting.
