Fender Precision V Tuning Issue

I have a 2012 Fender Precision V that is fantastic in so many ways. One flaw I noticed is that the D string does not tune easily. I believe this is because of friction with the string button it shares with the G string. It seems to me that the break angle of the D sting is pretty severe. This causes the string to catch on the edge of the string button. I think I could do one of two things to fix this: either move the button further from the nut or replace the button with something that does not have an edge like a string tree. Has anyone encountered this problem? What did you do to fix it?

Not sure about the new Fender machine heads, but IME, when a machine head is hard to turn, it is often because the screw holding the post on has been overly tightened.

This has been my experience in the past when this has happened too me.

I'm picking up my new American Standard Precision V on Tuesday and I'll be sure to check out the tuners to make sure they haven't been over tightened. Stay tuned for my comments.

No problems with my 2010 Precision V. Finally got to play a hard rock 'n' roll gig with both cabs & the LH1000.

It killed like I never thought possible.
