It could also be because of the import fee taxes and all that other stuff as well as shipping that has made Canadian retailers pad the price a little more

Yes, they do, just saw one yesterday 599!The 40th Anniversary Squier basses do, in fact, cost $600 in the US.
Not that I wasn't expecting it with inflation and supply chain issues... Well a new Fender Player Jazz or P bass is now $1170 Cdn, and the Player Plus series is almost $1650. Meanwhile now the Squier 40th Anniversary models are like $840. While I understand the economics of it all, all I can say is ***!!!
It just makes the likes of Sandberg and Maruszczyk even more attractive
