Fender Raises PricesAgain!

Not that I wasn't expecting it with inflation and supply chain issues... Well a new Fender Player Jazz or P bass is now $1170 Cdn, and the Player Plus series is almost $1650. Meanwhile now the Squier 40th Anniversary models are like $840. While I understand the economics of it all, all I can say is ***!!!

Meh... After years of price increases in no small part caused by massive demand, it's hard to get worked up about an increase in non-essential goods.

By the way, the value of the Canadian dollar has dropped quite a bit relative to the US dollar (and the Mexican Peso) in just the past few months. I'd assume that is going to impact lots of prices north of the border.

And at the same time as their QC appears to have dropped.

Mind you, there's been plenty of examples of other manufacturers failing in the QC department.
Record instrument sales over the last couple of years along with difficulty in getting good staff and just shipping as much product out the door as quickly as possible without it being checked properly..... I'll stick to second hand gear and putting together parts basses for the time being.

It has not dropped in the past few months, it’s been that crappy for over a year now if not longer so the price increase doesn’t have anything to do with exchange rate... go Fender fan boys! Keep drinking the Kool-Aid while they take more money out of your bank account

Not terribly surprising when you consider that ground beef was $1.15 a pound a matter of months ago and now (at lease in my area) it's nearing $4.00 a pound....think about it.

Went to buy some veggies for a stir fry a couple of days ago. Broccoli @ $3.99/lb , a small bunch of green onions (not the Booker T kind ) for $2.29/ea. (was $.79 just a few months ago). Insane.

Didn't Leo "lose" Fender in sort of a hostile take over? He had to "hide out" to stay in the game, for a decade. Which was weird.

I gave up on corporate Fender QC decades ago. It wasn't worth the frustration.

Prices in the US appear the same. Looks like this is a Fender Canada issue. The Canadian dollar has lost more than ten percent of its value against the US dollar over the past year. I feel your pain but I don’t think this is just Fender corporate deciding to squeeze a few more loonies out of a nonessential product.

Our currency is losing value since the earth cooled, and ~3-digit annual inflation rates is the norm around here.

We learned to evaluate money by its purchasing power, not nominal numbers. Easiest way to do it is to run calculations in a more stable instrument; such as gold, another currency, etc. I doubt if the case is that dramatic in Canada, but this is where the road leads to.
