Fender Rascal Bass....in Production??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from pictures of the Rascal in other people's collections, isn't it about the same overall length as a Jazz? As far as I know, it comes in a standard Deluxe Fender gigbag, too.
Dude, do you think you can move up the date for the wedding? That lady is a keeper!!!
It does look close in size, so hopefully a jazz size case will work. It does come with a deluxe Fender gig bag, but I prefer to use a hard case when possible.
Yeah, I saw those weights too, and they really surprised me. If they had come in at 8lbs, give or take a few oz, I may have been compelled to order one. If that is how heavy they are though...
Well, my Rascal arrived today. Gave it a quick check over before my fiancée wraps it for my birthday on Sunday. Turns out it's utterly perfect and very well set up. Trapped between the strings was a little card from Thomann with a proof of print studio photograph of my bass, saying that my bass is the very one used in the pictures on the Thomann site, so all those people who've been looking at the Rascal on Thomann have been looking at my bass. (At least we all know it's serial number if it ever gets stolen!) So it looks like I got the flawless one with a nice free setup to boot! At least that'll save me a couple of hours' tinkering.

I'd actually love a scamp bass lolI really like the bass but what's up with the cutesy name? Something along the lines of Mustang or Jaguar would be nice, but Rascal? What next, Scalawag, Scamp, Meanie?
I realize every bass can't have a perfect name like Thunderbird, but come on Fender, I can't hear the word rascal without picturing this.
Then again, it might be the first Fender I buy.
Just got mine yesterday, so here's some pics:
I like how the neck plate says "Fender Custom Shop Designed" on it. It's a really nice bass, with a sound totally different than any other bass I've owned. I didn't like the stock stock strings, so I went and installed a set of Roto Swing Bass 66's on it. The tension is still a bit less than on my 34" scale basses, but it has a great tone to it. I may put flats on it to get a stiffer feel to the strings. The fit and finish on it is perfect, I've got it set with the action nice and low, and the pics don't do the color justice. I think it's definitely a bass that is worth checking out.

Nice idea, but I'm going to keep mine standard. Just been playing it through the BG250 with some serious tone print action. I think my favourite sound is the middle and back pickup together. Very modern and crisp, but with clear definition. I'll let you know how it gigs after next Saturday. Another Xmas party!
That is one of the coolest looking basses right now...lucky man. Does it feel like a shortscale? I have heard that it feels a bit longer than say a Mustang. Thanks and happy birthday.
