Fender Road Worn 60's Jazz Bass - Upgrade

Do you own one? Is there something lacking in the hardware or pickups?
No, I don't own one, but I am thinking about purchasing one. I am just wondering what upgrades I can give the bass.
Why not try it first to see if it needs upgrades? It's an extremely well built instrument that'll probably sound fantastic after new strings and a setup.
You can give the bass all kinds of upgrades. I like Dimarzio ultrajazz pickups. I like badass 2 bridges. Upgraded pots are always nice. While you're at it you can add a zero fret and maybe a ramp between the pickups. Toss out the perfectly functional tuners and replace them with hipshots. Maybe toss the neck out entirely and spend $400 on a warmoth Wenge neck. But I betcha it sounds great without any upgrades. Strings and a setup might be all you need. It'll cost you about $25 and an hour of your time. That's a pretty good deal.

Get it and judge it on its own merits. Mine's fantastic stock! Doesn't need anything changed.
I've got one and love it. It doesn't need a damn thing. Put on your favorite strings, set it up and go.
Get a Badass bridge. You may or may not notice any difference in sustain or tone, but your bass will then let the whole world know that you're a Badass!!!
I got mine when they first came out. It was one of the first runs MX08 in 2008. I have only changed the strings for the first few years and it has always sounded and played great. Then about two years ago I decided to get a really good professional setup and put on a set of Ernie Ball Slinky Flatwounds. Well all I can say now is that this bass is my goto bass and I own Custom Shop basses and a Fodera.
I had one and the only thing I changed was I put a mint pickguard on it and stack knob controls, purely cosmetic stuff. Everything else was good to go.
I have two. Turned one into a fretless and added the Sadowsky onboard preamp to both since the rest of my basses are active. I can't stand switching between active and passive basses, even with a two channel preamp like the bassbone.
They sounded great passive!....but now I have active bass/treble boost and all is good with the world.
PS - Badass bridges were added as well. If you can stand the added weight, the tone difference is worth it.
