fender road worn jazz truss rod adjustment

Could anybody please tell me if it is neccesary to remove the neck to access the truss rod adjustment screw on a Fender Road Worn jazz bass , or can you get away with just removing the scratchplate , or indeed can you get to it without removing anything ? Any help or advice greatly appreciated , thanks.

It makes me so sad that this issue keeps coming up. I have written about it a few times and am hesitant to do it tonght before I sleep.

Do a search, but I promise to try to answer tomorrow. Just had a long day and a big concert...:eek:

Short answer: Yes, don't take the neck off. You need a good flat blade and some patience, but the neck need not come off, or even the pick guard.

Thanks, Jim. I tried searching a few times before I posted , but maybe I was too specific in relation to the Road Worn model in the terms I used . I will try again with reference to vintage Fenders in general . At least I am now on the right track.
