Fender Roscoe Beck IV - how many are there?

I am the lucky owner of a 2005 Roscoe Beck IV (3ts/Rosewood). Awesome bass, not too heavy, great tone(s), great build quality. Real pretty too! This holds up very well against the boutique basses I've tried.

I saw this for sale on the guitar center site, and had GC ship it from New Jersey to CA. Could use a setup, but other than that, it is in great condition. It even has some of the plastic from the pickguard under one of the the knobs.

I am trying to figure out how many off the 4-strings Fender made. Does anybody on TB have an idea of that, or how I could find out? (A bunch of searches on TB and the wider google-sphere did not reveal answers.)

They made the IV for at least 7 years, so there must be several thousand floating around. I sold my honeyburst NOS 2003 (purchased in 2009) a couple years ago. Great basses, although the controls are a little tight for live playing, especially with a pick.

Correction - I think the IV might still be in production. V was discontinued a while back.

Both the IV and V Roscoe Becks have been out of production for several years.

I don't think Fender would have made several thousand of these, simply because they were in the upper end of the Fender price book when new and Roscoe Beck himself is not exactly a household name for most of the bass-playing public.

I doubt if many stores had one on hand for people to try out when new, so I think that a lot of people missed out on it.

Would love to get my hands on one. I personally love the fender dimensions and I think the p and jazz bass purists are just missing out on a great instrument. Hate it was discontinued

I had a 5 string. Absolute monster.

Fender should stop worrying about re-branding / re-naming / re-hashing the Jazz bass and Precision bass, and bring these back.

There certainly seems to be less IV's than V's, at least in the used market.

These bases seriously deserve to be on the same level as a P or J. The Roscoe can do a great imitation of both of them, and more.
