Fender Rumble 800 Combo Thread for the NEW 2022 800 Combo

First gig on the Rumble 800 combo. Outdoors and loud, used an Epifani UL112 underneath for support. I'm really beginning to appreciate the fatness and clarity of this amp. Also experimented with a Genzler Magellan Bass Preamp going into the effects return of the Rumble as a slave amp. Great tone with that as well, just different flavor a little more refined perhaps. Those two 10's really push hard. Kudos to whoever designed that offering from Fender. So very light too just in time for my senior chapter lol.

I bought a cover from best amp covers made for the 500. Works great and is nice and thick.

So far, the 800 works for country music and seems to handle a B string fine.
For my quiet church gig, I lower the low-mids to take out some if the bloat.
Wish it had a level knob for the DI out.

Can't beat the light weight.

Had a baffle tube rattling after a year of weekly practice and a few heavy gigs.
Took the top speaker out.
Pulled the entire baffle tube out. Found that it wasn’t glued that great.
Cleaned up some of the dried glue.
Used some titebond and clamped it for a couple hours.
Fixed.

I just got a 800 Combo, I love it but am looking to round out the sound more. I play in a reggae rock ska band so I’m looking for both boomy AND punchy to cut through the mix and have more presence. I’ve tried to do a lot of research on what cab to add to the combo, I’m sure this question has been asked and answered already, but these threads are so long lol.
Should I get the 15 or 2x10 rumble cab?

First, you should join the Fender Rumble Club here on TalkBass. Just post about your Rumble there and you'll be inducted free of charge.

Then, I'd recommend the Rumble 210 cab as the best match for your 800. Though it's ceramic ferrite speaker magnets instead of neodymium, it's the closest match, and it can handle the full 400 watts that amp might give it! You'll still get the tone enhancements due to matching speaker coupling effects.

The Rumble 115 is a great cab that many use with their 800s to great success. But it doesn't get the same tone enhancements and, frankly, I personally don't trust its 300 watt rating to handle the amp's full power for very long. But, I've not seen anyone say that it's blown that speaker, so maybe I'm just too cautious. Be your own judge.

To be honest, with those tone goals, I would skip over the Rumble 210 and the 15.....you should check out the Fender Bassman 115 Neo...its more $$$ but you might find a used one on the Guitar Center website. If I were playing reggae/ska, thats the cab I would be looking for under my 800 combo

The rumble 115 cab is a perfect match to “round” it out.
ESPECIALLY for reggae and ska!
Just adds a bit of weight, warmth and bottom.
Plus with the 800 combo on its side it’s the same width as the 115 cab.
I put the 115 rubber feet on the side of the 800 combo.
Casters on the 115.

Rumbles are a cheap workhorse. The rumble 115 even tho it’s not a neo like the pro is a great match for the 800 combo!

I believe the R210 ceramic cab, which sits underneath the R800c, adds a rounder tone that counterbalances the crisp tones of the R800c Neo Driver.

Ok, so in 210 vs 115 Rumbles, I’m leaning toward the 210, BUT, how about the 410 cab? I’d imagine I’d be able to play at louder volumes with no worries then, while keeping all the little intricacies of my tone AND cutting through the mix. Romy, new Rumbler #1874! For a single cab, the Rumble 410 would definitely give you the most SPL with no worries at all for your reggae/rock/ska band mentioned in The Club. Of course, the 410 is the heaviest Rumble cab, but it's got casters to roll around. And since it's an 8 ohm cab, your R800c can drive two 410 cabs when your band does get serious! Or, mix any two 8 ohm Rumble cabs! Your R800c can handle it.

I'm thinking of picking up a Rumble 800. I had the Rumble 100 but need something with more output. Anyone who has played both, how does the sound compare? I found the Rumble 100 could be a bit muddy/woolly.

Also, how is the fan noise in the 800?

You might also consider getting a 500 plus a 210 cab. The 500 puts out about half the power with no external speaker cab attached. The 800 would put out about 400-450 watts. Then, depending on the venue, you could use just the 500 for smaller ones and the 500+210 for larger ones. Of course, you can also add a 210 to the 800 for the full 800 watts.

Mighty close, Maarti! Fixed it for ya. Plus, I think I've read here that the R500c, with ceramic ferrite speakers, sounds more like the smaller Rumbles with the same type. The R800c, with its Neo speakers, have a bit clearer, brighter tone, I've read.​
