Fender Rumble Club

I have only owned one bass amp. The 500C. 3 or 4 years now? Not sure how long....

Play and practice at least 20 hours a week on it. No scratchy pots or issues of any kind other than a punk's head slammed into one of the dust covers and dented it. The amp did get knocked off the stage in the head butting incident---but it did not get damaged---just a little road worn.

Same...its been my main gigging rig for over a year with zero issues. I do hear a slight scratch now and then when I adjust the master....but I rarely muck with the controls during a gig so I consider it a non-issue.
I'll just add that my Rumble 75 has been going strong for nearly 7 years with nary an issue. Same for my Rumble 200 that I bought used from @Scatabrain. I believe he did clean the pots with Deoxit D-5.
@Clark Westfield just posted a photo showing him going in to tidy things up on his 3 year old Rumble 500 head to include a cleansing spritz of D-5 in the pots.

I did. Although the scratchy pot probably ws helped more from me turning the knob a bunch of times more than the spray. I didn’t take anything apart and used very little spray.

I have also owned the 500 and 100 combo (fun to run together but mismatched in power) and now the 500 head.

Along with Linnin’s 200 that’s a lot of Rumble. And they all do the same thing. Just twist the pot a few times before you turn on and it’s gone.

FWIW: The 100 and 500 combo were new. The 500 head I have now I bought used. It was in new condition when i got it. So was Linnin’s 200.

I think people either get 1 and love it or don’t get it and sell it right away. That’s been my experience.

You see a lot of people just churning equipment here. One cat posted that he loved his Rumble 500 and wanted to keep it but had to sell. I was thinking financial distress, but not so. The man was more than well off and could easily afford anything. Wife's rule: "One amp at a time". For him to try a new amp at home required the sale of the older. Loss of $$$ was of no consequence.

I knew I had one of these around somewhere.... I found it and plugged it into my Rumble 200 and the BOOST button turns the overdrive on and off. Nice!

I tried my home stereo sub along with my Ampeg cab and it did the trick for home volume levels and made the bass sound just as I like. If I were gigging, I would have to get a pro sub that could handle the extra volume and be tough enough the be moved around. These home subs have at best a rubber surround, and I don't think foam surrounds would hold up long to the alcohol vapors found in a club. Foam would probably soften and crumble. I have had them do that at home in 5 years.

I looked at Fender subs, most say no longer sold. They have some very high end ones. Cheapest I found is the MCM 350 watt sub .
About $130 shipped for an unpowered new one.
Seismic has some cheap ones but this one goes down to 20hz. The Fender Squire only goes down to about 50hz. I don't see any use in that.

Just buy this one. It's the best and only $1,500! https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ETX18SP

I tried the bookshelf speakers and one sub, it just didn't fill the space well, a hump of sound in the middle of me so I made a three way 10", 5" mid, and one inch silk dome system as an experiment. I calculated the driver + crossover needs and repopulated an old Radio Shack set of empty floor speakers. The full size speakers don't drop quite as low but still the sound is more balanced. I do sense where it comes from with the powered sub in the center.

A big question is how good will a $120 15" sub cabinet sound and how long will it last ? What if you blow that once in a lifetime audition because a cheap this or that failed you ? I'm off easy just playing at home, that powered sub with bandwidth control to mix it in with the 115 cab. And I really have to use headphones most of the time, neighbors in this temporary launch pad get too obnoxious over it.
