So, any pointers for redoing the fronts?

They are pretty simple. A wooden frame held on by Velcro. Either make a new frame yourself or have a buddy do it. Should take all of a couple minutes with appropriate tools and wood stock. Then wrap your selected grill cloth around it, add Velcro, and wa-la a new grill.

So, I had to go to the Mayo Clinic here abouts for some diagnostics last week. The upside is there is a Guitar Center right up the street...my better half must have been feeling sorry for me, because she let me pick up new toy! GC had a used Squire "Bullet" Tele for $89...I've always had a soft spot for Telecasters, and it was Sea Foam Green, my all time favorite "Custom Color", so I had to get it...

Good news is the 500c sounds great for guitar! A real "switch hitter"! No need to buy a "guitar-specific" amp! (at least not yet!)

I have, through my Rumble 40 and it was ok-ish for clean. Putting any distortion/od pedal in front is really bad.

How does the rumble series (esp 500 combo) take bass effect pedals? I have a decent sized board that I run in front of my amps: dirt, modulation, delay... I’ve been looking hard at the 500 watt combo.

I also play guitar so knowing that my guitar rig has a chance to sound decent through a rumble is good to hear.

I tried my Tele through my V3 200 and it sounded great - no surprise for me though, I've long loved the clean sound of a guitar through a bass amp. What surprised me was the guitar also sounded pretty good with the distortion on.

Works great. I have gone through the input and fx return. Both work well. I run 2 500 combos slaved thru the fx so I normally run the pedals inline. I run normally 8 pedals.

My Rumble 200 takes bass effects great. I have two boards full, and all sound great through the Rumble. I have never tried my guitar through the Rumble, but might try just for grins after reading this.

Thanks for the feedback and to Steadfast as well! It appears that I am destined to be a Rumble owner and probably before the end of the month!

Nothin' wrong with that. I have been very happy with my 500 head and 2 210s especially for the price. Excellent amps and great sounding cabs. Of course I have always loved the Fender sound. I guess I am biased but I really want another Ampeg amp, because of experience with them. (no knock on Fender) If I can't have an SVT then I want one of those PF50s I see. Some of you may disagree but the Rumble sound is very close to the Ampeg SVT sound I used to get. Awesome bass sound. Love my Rumble. I also had a LAB4 SS amp that was phenomenal. I'm picky about my amps. I still have the LAB but it's messed up, first solid state amp that made me a believer in solid state amps. I'd like to get it fixed.

That's s great point, thank you. When that amp was up and running it was a powerhouse, I have learned that it was affiliated with MOOG. Same knobs and I don't know how many were made, mine is a serial # of 3008 or something. When that thing was running it totally kicked butt. Made me a believer in Solid State amps for bass. I guess I want to get it fixed for nostalgia reasons. It served me well for a couple of years

I have a pretty good memory how things sounded, you have me at the cost though. I guess I miss my SVT but with the Rumble 500 I'm not looking back. Well, maybe a little.

I have a 1970 Kasino 200w/2-15s combo(?)amp that still sounds amazing except it"farts"below A. I would get it re-speakered but unless I get a roadie or two,it's not leaving the house. I'll use my Rumble 200c that I can lift.

I’ve been playing out of the Ampeg Micro VR in half and full stack form at my band’s practice space. It’s my drummer’s rig and I do like it a lot. At home I gave a 100 lbs + Randall RB 125 ES head and 2x15 cab (it’s carpeted, not tolex). It has a nice rich sound but is too Harvey to schlep back and forth.

I thought about buying my own micro VR but it sometimes doesn’t feel loud enough, even with both cabs. For the same money, I can pick up the rumble 500 combo and add an extra cab down the line (thinking 1x15) and get the full 500 Watts. The rumble checks a lot of boxes for me: simple controls, it’s light and has HP input for home practice. I’ll also have a portable rig that I can use to develop my own sound.

This thread has been very helpful to me in my decision making process.
