Hey gang,
A while back I noticed my volume pot has started acting up. It's a Rumble 150 (V2 rumble?) that I picked up used. What I've noticed is, when turning the volume up or down it has that scratchy sound and sometimes loses the volume until you bump it (the pot, not the amp). Is there a simple fix for this? Can it be simply cleaned? Or am I looking at replacing a pot here?

I haven't worried about it thus far because I'm not gigging and I rarely mess with the volume at all. But I'd like it to work right if possible.

Oh, also, been digging thru our wiki looking for said repair, but can't seem to find anything. Or am I just blind?

My gut suggests DeOxit Fader Lube, but my gut has been wrong before. Even if it’s the right answer, it would be prudent to make sure the amp is off, unplugged, and the capacitors discharged, prior to application of the product. If the pots are sealed, this may not work, so I’d suggest waiting for a reply with specific experience with these models.

My husband said it’s dirty pots that can be easily fixed with electronic spray cleaner. It most likely has been sitting around not being used before you bought it. Good luck

Yeah, I'm sure it sat for a while. The former owner moved back East and left it with him buddy, where it sat in a garage for a few months before he told his buddy to sell it.

A very very short small spray of DeoxIT D5 will clear it while you rotate the knob back and forth...but beware..only use a very small spray amount...there was a thread here on TB awhile back about its use and to be careful using it as it can wash the grease from the pot if overused and that internal grease is needed by the pot for normal smooth operation.

If you can, check out a Phil Jones Bass Compact 4. Guaranteed to make you think twice about owning a 4x5” bass speaker cab, even if it’s not your cup of tea.

Another option is to use (up to four) SVT210AV cabs. One takes the risk of blowing the cabs but I use two of them (4 ohms combined) with the amp on the 2 ohm setting (which slightly attenuates the output to something in the ballpark of 600 Watts (please don’t hold me to that figure because I’m spitballing here). I like the “vertical 4x10” arrangement because it brings the sound up to my ear better... and the cabs are under 30 lbs each so loading is a breeze. Anyway, the point is that with this head, your options are only limited by your imagination.

Thanks. I really don't know what the strings are. They guy I got the bass from didn't know either. They were on the bass when I bought it a few months ago. They are flats and have a great feel. I forgot to mention the bass is fretless, but you probably already noticed that.

I have a 150 v.2. Opened it up once to replace a broken power switch. The four black screws on top hold everything in place. Undo them and the unit slides out the back. Make sure you unplug it first and you will have to disconnect the speaker and tweeter if you want to remove it completely. The pots are soldered to the main PC board.

OK. So, I gots to say. my Christmas present to me (R100 from SW-w/ cover)is frickin' amazing. The 12.5 # less weight is wonderful, but the sound is wonderful-ler. I used it on 2 gigs today, one turned way down, the other G-11, V-Noon, covered a large-ish room.

hi, I'm shopping Rumbles and checking out the info on the fender website. is there some good info in here comparing the drive channel between the 25 and 40?

if I plan to add some pedals like the pulp n peel or drybell unit 67 or annex bass channel, then i imagine i can get all the tone and drive sculpting i need with the 25, right? does the 40s feature set make it sound much better?

all thoughts and experiences appreciated!

Beggin' yer pardon, there, JP. But the $1500 USD Neo 810 is 120 lb.s and worth every ounce, or so I gather. It's the tiny little 610 Neo that is a svelte 95.5 lb.s and only $1400 USD! How many would you like to order?

Kinda makes that $400 USD Rumble 410 at 62.5 lb.s look pretty good in comparison, huh?

Most likely not relevant, but I have a Rumble 410 4-Ohm V2 and I love it. Quite punchy and efficient especially considering its relatively small size for a 4x10 (not very deep). I don't know the difference functionally between a V2 and V3.

BTW after starting this reply I felt this is not really relevant but could not figure out how to cancel the reply! :-/.

Hey, deally! Your V2 Rumble 410 sounds pretty great, pun intended! The only functional difference I know of between it and the new V3 410 is yours is 4 ohms and the V3 is 8 ohms. Both are rated 500W continuous, 1,000W program. Edited to add: The V3 is probably a little lighter weight than the V2, but I don't know the weight of the V2 to be sure.
