Fender Rumble Club

I remember the v2 rumbles had some sort of built in comp, the v3 has something similar?
Yes the Delta-Comp Limiter! It's been under development for at least 20 years, and was first used in solid state PA systems. The V3 version is the best yet! It's the 'secret sauce' of Rumble tone. The compression is dynamic and adjusts itself to demand. Play harder? Get more needed compression. Play soft with a lot of emotion? Delta-Comp gets out of your way. It is the very best built in compressor in any bass amp anywhere.

Thanks for clarifying. One last thing, does raising the gain knob add dirt to the signal, or is all the dirt coming from the switchable and blendable overdrive circuit?

It can be both. Cranking the gain in turn cranks everything else. You have to experiment to find the best settings for your desired sound. It takes time and effort. Don't forget volume. Crank that Master too!

About a month ago, I decided to learn how to play the bass. I bought an Ibanez Mikro bass (I'm barely over five feet tall, so the Mikro is great for me ergonomically) and more importantly for the purposes of this thread, I bought a Fender Rumble v3 25.

I love it! I think it sounds great, and it's easy to move around. I've brought it to my brother's house so we could jam together, and he was impressed with the Rumble.

I'm ready to rumble and would love a number!

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick welcome, GregT and BaileyBoy!

I'm loving my setup - for under $300, I have some gear that is simply fantastic to learn on. From some of my past hobbies (horses, Porsche 911s, endurance bicycling), $300 is .... well, I don't want to call it chump change, but I feel like I'm getting quite a bargain.

Before I bought the Rumble, there was a used Bassola 10 at the local GC for $10. I thought about buying it, but figured it'd be pretty bad for $10. Went back to buy it the next day, but it was gone. Tried out the Rumble and a couple other used amps in the $100 price range. Thought about it for a few more days and bought the Rumble. It's great for practicing at home. If I ever get good enough to play in a group, I can always look for something with more oomph!

I'm having so much fun learning to play the bass -- I wish I'd started years ago!

Welcome to the Fender Rumble Club @BoatyMcBoatface! :woot: You are member #631 :hyper:  Rumble On!
SWEET!!!

I've been reading through the old posts in this thread, and where I left off, you weren't even up to member #200. These Rumbles are popular!

- Melissa

PS. Thanks for getting me a number so quickly, Linnin. I see that you stepped in as mod after BumbleB, and it looks like you're doing a great job.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Melissa  Clubs aren't actually sanctioned by TalkBass, and I'm not any kind of moderator. I'm just a regular everyday member like everybody else. ;) We like to have fun here.

Ah, I shouldn't have said moderator, more like Giver of Numbers. At any rate, I think you're doing a great job! A little number giving, a little welcome wagon, a little bit of cheerleading for Rumble - not an easy thing to keep up for a while.

I'd seen other threads where the Rumble got a bad rap. Is it because tone is subjective and what sounds good to one person sounds terrible to another? Or did the amps improve significantly during the second and third generations? Or a little of both?

All of the above, lol.

TB is very polarizing, ask about rounds vs flats, precision vs jazz, ampeg vs fender, etc, etc.

I think a lot of people feel that it is just a budget amp line, can't be so light and sound good, for that kind of money.

But the fact is, it's a great line, and if you like it, enjoy it!

You're too kind, Melissa.
On TalkBass for many years, Fender is the brand many love to hate and still is. Fender Rumbles in particular were singled out as objects of ridicule. Reality and the honest history of the Fender Rumble family has become more widely accepted ever since BumbleB started the Fender Rumble Club three years ago. We are the proof of that pudding, and gladly so.

Thanks, Orangeclawhammr!

I have lots to learn, and so many great resources (including you fine folks of TalkBass) to learn from.

I really appreciate the welcome I've gotten from pretty much everyone I've encountered. Looking forward to many more years of fun!

Suggest the instrument caple pass through under the handle before plug to Combo input jack.
Let the handle press the cable. It can avoild the risk from accidently pull and break the cable or input jack .

Don't forget the free toaster! Every new Rumble Club member gets a free new toaster!
You have to supply your own butter and jam, though.

I'd seen other threads where the Rumble got a bad rap.

My guess is that having spent double the price to get equivalent performance, one tends to get a little defensive/snobbish.

I have some wishlist for future Rumble V4 combo.

Keep all the current V3 features, upward panel ,lightweight and vintage combo look , but need to add :

1, an accurate Built-in Tuner
2, Backlite LED Fender Logo when power on (clean channel ), Turn to Green when Overdrive engage ( Overdrive channel and Yes , it is Hulk Green)
3, Solid state power amp with Tube preamps
4, Clean channel and Overdrive channel with Seperate EQ and tone shape control
5, bundle come with 1 button pedal
6, come with BIG F logo combo cover
7, available in black tolex and vintage cloth tolex
8, available in watt start from 25w, 50w, 80w, 120w (solid state) and 220w, 500w ,800w (tube preamp)

Fender should keep to make better Rumble series in future because i prediction the Blackstar will made a bass amp combo in same price level will become a strong competitor soon ~~~

Hey guys, I've scanned through this thread a bit and not sure if I missed it, but is there a big difference from using the Rumble 500v3 210 combo vs. The head and 410 cab? Outside of portability, soundwise/volume? I only ask because I need to order one or the other today.

Or should I concider other options?

Long story short, my beloved GK MB212II is acting up, not sure if the amp is messed up or the speakers( I'll trouble shoot tonight). But I have gigs coming up that require more umph than my MB115II can give me. And it is good to have a back up plan or other options for tone. Hince why I am drawn to the 410 cab and head.
