Fender Rumble upgrade 12" speaker

Rick, check the specs on all 3 speakers kindly submitted by BassBeginer64 under the thread, " Replacing the speaker in the Fender Rumble 100". The later 2 are clearly an upgrade to the OEM Speaker. The OEM looks like it only has a Pmax of 75 watts! 1 1/2 " voice coil ! Xmax of 0.38 !
Now it's obvious why the 2012 works a lot better. If that xmax of 0.38 mm is accurate it wouldn't take 75 watts. It might take 5. The pictured driver comes out of the Eminence factory in China, for use only in Asian products. If Eminence sold a driver of that quality in the US it might go for 20 bucks, but they don't. Even the Alpha 12 is a major step up from that, pardon my French, POS.

By my opinion here are some other facts to consider that no one mentioned in the previous post. The OEM speaker however is decent sounding, is not a real bass speaker, it's sounds like a wide range to me with a bit loose sound. I want more punchy and more focused low end. The other reason I upgrade with a basslite 150w with bigger coil, it can handle more than a 100W or probably less OEM with a relatively small coil. Less chance for speaker fart out at high volume. There is a third reason I cannot ignore, the OEM speaker is 4 ohm, the basslite is 8 ohm that means only half demand on the amp, more output at same volume setup therefore less chance for overheating the amp then amp fart out. And one more, with the 8 ohm speaker I can add a speaker connector on my combo, and use it with any extension cab with 8 ohm for surely cleaner and more focused sound with no annoying resonance at high volume. I experienced with this before and added or just switched bigger cab always means sound improvement for a bass.

Have a Rumble 75 12" stock vented combo/cab that i modded to use a a cab and have used it for several small venue gigs with various amp-heads. I like what i am reading about a possibly worthwhile Delta Pro 12 or 2512 upgrade; however, i am wondering if anyone has tried a Delta Pro 450 12? They look to be lighter but more $.

Haven't tried it, myself.
A brief survey of the differences, by someone knowledgeable:
Need suggestions for DIY 112 cabinet for Dayton Audio PA310-8
Also, the Delta Pro 12-450A is, or was when I last checked (admittedly a while ago), actually less expensive than the Pro-12A. Here, for example:

So shop around.

I may be wrong but i thought the stock (eminence medium duty looking) 12" was 8ohm. Now yall'z got me wanting to take this modded rumble cab apart again and look. I have the fender rumble amp head removed and in a custom rack i built so i can separate for different uses. Seems like players and modders on here would have better things to do than nit pick a relevant post on a thread about rumble 12 speaker options. As long as we can learn and/or get ideas for better sound, it should be all good! Now we know a delta 12 pro needs a bigger box.

Sensitivity only 92.6. The Basslite is 97 and Beta 12 is 98............

I hope the TalkBass site exists to build up and encourage positive interchange between like minded bass enthusiasts. Thank you for your POSITIVE replies and input.

This is our HOBBY !! If I played golf I could easily drop $$$$$ on an upgraded putter. If I collected cars every upgraded component would be mega$$$$$$. Let's have some FUN with our hobby..........

If Rumble owners want to drop $100 on trying a speaker upgrade to improve his/her investment they should be encouraged !!!
Have a 4 band Rumble 60 and forgot what the structure looked like inside the speaker cab. i am pretty sure i strengthened the structure and added dampening. It still works but it may have been an alpha or beta clone, cant remember.. It has worker for at least 5 years now for small gigs

i just replaced my Rumble 100's stock driver with a Faital 12FE300. braced the cab while i was at. a night and day improvement. and it also perfectly matches the 10" Faital in my Rumble 40 in freq response and efficiency. both amps can also be used as stand-alone cabs with much larger heads when required. this is a seriously potent 1-10/1-12 stack, especially when i chain to 40 via it's line out xlr directly to the 100's input jack (it works perfectly, no distortion at all with the gain knob down). with the 40's master halfway up and the 100's master wide open this is one Scary loud 140 watt combo, with tons of clean headroom to spare. i'm extremely happy with the way all this turned out

Hello all:
I just wanted to chime in on this. I impulsively bought a mint Rumble 100 w/ the cover off Craigslist for $225 just to get something light and decent sounding for my upright in a 2 piece (upright and guitar) with canned back tracks recorded by us. We play out 3-4 times a month doing 30's through 50's material for assisted living facilities and private parties. I played with the Rumble stock for a few gigs then decided to do some things to it that actually wound up making a huge difference, unlike mods I have done in the past on other amps / cabinets that were a complete waste of time and money.
I Replaced the stock driver with the neo S-2012, lined the cabinet, then when playing I noticed a resonance vibration in the sides of the cabinet that I could feel with my hand. I got a piece of 1 1/2" wooden closet rod and cut a piece I could center horizontally in the cabinet and clear the speaker, glued the ends and added (2) chrome screws with cup washers on the outside to really secure the rod and tighten the sides. It actually made a huge difference as the resonance although not really being audible was using power and everything now just seems "tighter" for lack of a better term. I put pop off casters on it and remove the back ones when playing live so it tilts up about 15 degrees. For an impulse purchase (I have 13 other amps, heads, etc and needed it like a hole in my head) it now works great. I still mainly use Phil Jones products for Jazz gigs and Ampegs for big stuff but for the 2 piece it is great, especially with a BSX Allegro I have. For some reason the EUB sounds better with it than either of my uprights (53 Kay and unknown year Engelhardt) and we can put everything we need for a typical gig in the back of a VW Tourareg.

Bottom line the 100 is a great value in my opinion although it does have it's limits. Are there better combos out there? Absolutely
Are they $225? No. My PJB Suitcase was $1250 and I got a 4B cabinet to go with it (direct from Phil here in St Louis when he introduced it (another $500 for serial # 4) and it absolutely kills as it should for that kind of dough! 9 Times better? No
but it is a totally different animal.
