Fender sand blasted Precision

I tried out one in a store recently. I liked how they looked much more than how they felt. Was surprised at just how much wood was "missing". I think it might feel good after ten years of constant use/wear, so the "sharpness" of the body texture can dull down a bit. Was surprised it was American made - not bc of quality or anything, but price. Fender would probably charge $799 for a MIM version, so $999 seems rather reasonable for something that will likely be a unique special run.

Sweetwater doesn't wheel and deal like the other online retailers but being able to pick out the exact instrument you want is a plus, especially for something that can vary as much as these do. I also prefer a gloss neck but these feel great. I was thinking the red P would look great with the maple and black block (Geddy Lee style) neck Fender sells on its online store. Here is the Jazz I picked up from Sweetwater when they were first released. The color is much more vivid in person.

They don't appear to be. At least I didn't see anything on mine that indicated number x of x. When they first came out, a lot of eBay sellers had them as "limited to 50". Now they are saying 150 so who knows how many are actually going to be made.

Does anybody have a clue for how long these basses will be available? i know they're limited edition basses, but how long does Fender usually produce the limited edition basses. I want one of these, but don't want to buy untill the Fall.

That is one sweet looking J bass BIGEJ2! That is some dayum nice grain in it! Yeah Sweetwater wouldnt wheel and deal, but like you said, w had our pick and I did the same! Im agreeing with you on the neck, I would like to put a flame maple/flame maple with black mother of pearl dots or blocks on the board. Even thought about doing it! But I think it would be detrimental to the overall bass due to limited edition model and the serial number is on the factory neck!
