The Jazz Juniors are currently available. The one in the classifieds is a Jazz Jr. The 62SS (where SS = “Smart Scale”) isn’t made anymore and you have to just monitor eBay, Reverb and maybe check the English language sites for the big brick and mortar Japanese music stores from time to time. The Jazz Jr has a larger body and longer scale (30” vs 29”ish). The differences were recently discussed in the Jazz Jr Club thread.
Danny at Bass Japan Direct is kind of adding to the confusion by listing the Jazz Juniors as “Jazz Junior Collection JB62 Short Scale Jazz Bass” and that seems to be a recent change as you can see on his short scale listing page that he used to leave off the “JB62” part and you can see it’s absent from the older Jazz Junior listings lower on the short scale page (I am a regular visitor there). I wonder if it’s to try to get some of the Smart Scale search engine traffic.
