Random observation and question...
I have a circa 1988 Fender Squire P bass. Had it since I was a teenager, many gigs, house parties, "battle scars" lol! I also have a G&L Tribute J bass I bought new in 2022.
Noodling around on them, not plugged in, I noticed that the Squire P was considerably brighter than the G&L J.
I believe they both have the same set of strings on them, but not 100% sure. I do know they are not the same age. Barring any string idiosyncrasies, I supposed that kind of surprised me just how different they sounded "acoustically".
Understanding the considerable difference in age between the two instruments (technology, wood, necks, strings, etc.) Any thoughts why the Squire P might be "brighter" than the Tribute J?
