You're right, it's a hot bass.
To put it in perspective, a G&L MFD humbucker is generally around 9Kohm, and those are generally considered hot.
Look at the numbers Legatta is posting.
Humbuckers, as a general rule are darker. Hotter pups as a general rule are darker.
And yes, that does make it harder to eq, and yes, your P bass is probably much mower output, and much easier to manage
