Since D’Addario makes all of Fender’s strings I’d bet on it. Sweetwater also shows a new Fender steel string (I’ve forgotten the name).

The package looks great in a retro way, but I wonder what is really better with it? Does it have a more optimised core-to-wire ratio like the Rotosound 66? I admit that I thought Fender is releasing a rope core or round core string model!

I'm guessing Fender is trying to compete with Dunlop Super Brights and SIT Foundations by using the same formula, ie a thinner hex core for added flexibility, which is the opposite of Roto 66.

This looks like the same item number (7350) as their, uh, previous line of stainless steel strings? Did the strings actually change, or is this a rebranding? I notice they do have several gauges, and don't remember how many options they used to have.

The Rotosounds are something else. I've tried some other stainless rounds (including the DR which is supposedly Rotosound Plus), but always come back to Rotos. The growl, the gauge selection, and the core-to-wire ratio all make for the best, most balanced stainless roundwound tone out there.
