Fender VI 6 String Bass ?

With a heavier gauge, you can tune a Fender Bass VI or clone to EADGBE one octave below guitar standard (or "bass guitar" standard).

I guess my comment would be to tune this as a standard 6-string bass B to B. But I could see you getting a low E out of one of these.

I got the strings in yesterday. I should be getting the tuners and pup today. I am gonna try to get ahold of Fender to see about a switchplate for this. They could probably at least refer me to a company that could make one. If not I will go with a Jaguar 3 switch plate that would get me about as close as I can get. Would be nice to have the 4th bass cut though. As soon as I know which direction I am going with the switches, I can get a pickguard cut.
I think I will be going with Terrapin Guitars on the pickguard. I am not sure what color. I am thinking either a darker tortoise or aged pearl. What do you guys think?
Oh yeah, I also think I found the tremolo bar I need through All Parts as well.

So, the project has been on hold. I have spent some time trying to find a pickguard with no luck. I recently lost in bidding on one on ebay that sold reasonably. The rest that I see are just far too much. After being on the phone with several pickguard makers, I have had no luck. Nobody has a template to start with and go off of. I have even tried to contact people on ebay that are selling them and asked if they would be willing to sell a tracing in order to make a template. No luck. The last guy I communicated with is selling one for like $600.00. He replied and said that it has shrank and would do me no good. Why would someone pay $600.00 if it was no good. In any case, this has been frustrating. I will just try to design my own template off of the guitar itself and pictures that I have found to get it close to looking original. A little more time consuming than what I had thought, but oh well. If anybody has any better ideas let me know.
