If you want something "innovative" go buy a Ritter or something. If you want a tried-and-true industry standard that seems to outsell absolutely everything else, get a Fender.

They have American Standard Jaguar which is innovative, but then discontinue it. Just when I have the cash to buy it, they are discontinued. So I bought PBass instead. Seriously, I really like the Am Std Jaguar. And they release Coronado, Starcaster, etc but they don't sell well. Recently they have a paranormal one.

Yep. The electric instrument is old tech. Even Midi is pretty low tech, all things considered. I feel like you're asking to redesign the paperclip....why?

Probably already been said, but I will bet that whatever you want Fender has already built and sold it. Of course, this is within reason, Fender is not likely to start building ERB's beyond 6 strings. They try a lot of stuff, not much sticks. When you have probably built and sold more basses than every other company combined, you have hit on a good thing and as long as people keep wanting those P's and J's, thank God Fender is still around to do it!
