FGN Basses Sound Like poopie?

Does anyone have experiences with FGN(Fujigen) basses? Such as NJB, NPB or JMJ?
I only used to have one, NPB10M, or it was called NPB100 for an early model. It has an ash body, maple one-piece neck and fingerboard.
It doesn't sound like the sound of the 80s and early 90s Japanese Fender AT ALL. So I traded it the next day I got it. I really dislike that sound, which is thin and hollow and its low-frequency has no depth, just like this video(same model):

Then I searched 'FGN bass' and 'Fujigen bass' on youtube(You can search that and have a listen), only to find their P basses with alder bodies and rosewood fingerboards as well as jazz basses are all that kind of sounds.
If the reason that NJB10 and NPB10 sound crappy is the Fujigen 62 style pickups, then why the NJB20 with Seymour Duncan pickups also sounds not good enough?
How did they make basses that sound so bad while they could make great Japanese Fender before 1996? They can not even beat today's Fender Japan.

I've found the FGN basses I played to be well crafted and have sounded good.

As it's been said, it's a poor craftsman who blames his tools...

Haha, I thought it but you posted it. I believe that 95% or more of basses can play and sound great! The other 5% would just have twisted necks or some other insurmountable flaw.

There are also other cheap components in your bass, beside the pickup, that influence sound a lot.
Capacitors, pots, their wiring quality and soldering, the jack socket.
And also the scheme itself.
If you change everything in these parts, using high quality components, the sound can change a lot.
They are just cheap spare parts, a big budget is not required.
