FGN Fujigen Mighty Power bass

Hello,

Uau, I just discovered this bass by chance, browsing on thomann.

Can someone tell me how is the neck profile on the double P bass? The width of nut and the type of neck?

How is the overall quality? To what brands would you compare it, quality wise?

Thanks!

Hi,

Who can tell me about this bass today ?
neck confort and sound pickups ...
I read in a german forum that Mighty Power had the wrong frequencies
And it's difficult to adjust the sound.
Maybe the guy didn't like the Seymour Duncan SPB-3 ?
Impossible to try this bass, not available in store in my area.
So, if anyone knows this model, thank you for telling me what he thinks about it.

Thanks

I bought the Ash/mapleboard one 2 months ago.
It is quite light weight and finish is great. The balance is good.
I am fond of the neck! The good surprise is that I even like it better than my jazz bass neck.
The FGN's neck is just a bit thicker and wider (40mm nut). Neck finish is really smooth (no gloss).
I don't like the pickgard shape and color (also it is a single ply and therefore look a bit cheap) so I will cut a new one.
I've put nickel roundwound on it as the original steel ones were really too bright for my taste.
I really like the unusual 2 split pickups configuration.
But I hesitate over replacing the neck PU. I want a more traditional Pbass neck PU. Maybe I will try an SPB1 or EMG Geezer or fender one?
I'm still investigating... Any advice would be appreciated.

What do you mean by "wrong frequencies"?

Hello mates,
I recently discovered the "Mighty Power" bass made by the Japanese brand FGN (Fujigen). I'm definitely in love with it but no way to try it here in Italy, also I can't find any video review on the web. I've been told that their basses are really high level but never had the chance to try one.
Have you ever tried it or do you own FGN basses, in particular this one?
Thanks!

Alberto

Worst QC I have ever seen.

Looks like something's lost in translation ("German forum"......huh....)
There's nothing wrong with the SD QP PUs.Some love them, some hate them....it's a taste thing.
I had the double-P config with SD QPs on one of my Precision-clone basses (all passive,no preamps) and I found it very versatile.Of course,SD QP's character was present and inevitable (read: on the opposite side of anything "vintage").

Do you find them "scooped". I read that comment about them several time on TB.
I like their "thickness" but something botter me in the mid. And they seemed a bit limited in high frequency range. What also make me want to try other pickups is their kind of "compressed sound". I won't really described them as being "scooped"...
Maybe I should try to lower them?

Could you elaborate please? You picked my curiosity...

It was my second FGN bass. First was send back because of sitar-ish fret buzz on 1st string with a lot of relief. This was send back because of poor quality. Good sounding bass, though.
I'm sorry for you. Mine is really great. The only flaw was about the knobs. They were just a bit crooked. Not a big deal and fixed in a minute (just the time to find a screwdriver).

I'm a HUGE fan of FGN. I have 5 total, the fifth being my mighty power that comes Wednesday. I have a Mighy J Dark Evolution, a Neo Classic J (Geddyzilla), an Expert J, an Illiad Dark Evolution (guitar), and the Mighty Power that comes Wednesday. I'd hardly call their QC the "worst ever", on the contrary I've found their necks to be some of the best I've ever played (and I own over 40 basses). I've found their QC to be amazing and their attention to detail top notch. Nobody's perfect, and it sounds like Harvey got one that didn't meet his expectations... but I don't think that warrants such a blanket statement about their QC considering that he's only had two (and only one with issues it looks like). I don't think I'm ever buying a Fender ever again (not that I did in the first place... but you get what I'm saying). With the MIM prices going over $1000 for some models, FGN is far superior in every way IMO.
