Fima Ephron Bass Tone

Haven’t heard this before, so relaxed and settled for being tricky!

Very tricky indeed.

Nate smith is a master level drummer, truly ones of the greats of his generation. But I feel like so many “drummer written” music is odd meters just because they are so tired of playing in 3 and 4 all the time. I don’t blame them.

cool, I never saw that before. I’ve worked with the keyboardist, Jon Cowherd, in the past while doing sound, really nice humble guy and very talented. And Fima has always been a badass, I was lucky to catch him with Screaming Headless Torsos a long time ago. Very deep sound and great groove.

Stumbled across a couple more I had forgotten about...

Tom Schmidt is a drummer...Fima is the only one I know from this album (freestream on Prime for members).

A long favourite of mine-

He is from around here...few years ago (2007?!?), we're on our way to a gig in downtown Richmond. We're at a stoplight & the sax player looks at the car next to us (with drums packed in the back)-
"...cool, it's Nate Smith. Guess he's on his way to a gig, too".
Damn!

Fima never overplays. Uses space and time to great effect all while playing with Nate.
Stays in the pocket with perfection.
One of Fima's compositions...

When I first got online (20 + years ago?!?)...and these guys had their emails out there, I asked him about how, how, how did he come up with this odd/poly-style(?) groove. His answer? Over my head. Of course.
