Believe it or not, there are phenomenal musicians all over the place. I am lucky to play with a core of musicians who have toured with national acts, been career musicians with military bands, done session work with the top Gospel artists in the world, etc., etc.. Living in Nashville or Chicago isn't what makes a great musician. Sandi Patty, who I believe has the most Dove awards of anyone in Gospel music, is from here, as have been most of her road band members for years. Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith have recorded here, Bill Gaither, maybe the most successful songwriter in Gospel history, is from here. And that's not to mention the likes of Wes and Monk Montgomery, and Freddie Hubbard, who were from Indianapolis, 30 miles from Anderson. Oh, yeah, Gary Burton, one of the great vibes players of all time, is from here, as is Jeff Hamilton, Diana Krall's long time drummer. Shall I stop now?

... well gee that’s incredibly considerate of you to belittle the people I’ve had the honor of playing with. Nice. Beyond that, some people enjoy playing music with other people who want to play music. It isn’t ALWAYS about performing. My original statement stands. Glad I’ll never have to play with you. I will say however, sounds like you’re a busy player and have lots of gigs. That’s killer.

Not belittling anyone. I simply prefer playing with folks who have taken the time to become extremely proficient at their chosen craft. Professional golfers never went out of their way to play golf with me. I didn't get angry about it, because I didn't put in the hours on the practice tee or the putting green that might have made me a better golfer. I liked playing golf, but was too lazy, or too busy, or (pick an excuse), to do what it would have taken to be a better golfer. Sorry, sir, it's the way of the world...
