Finally... an Ampeg rig that I truly enjoyed...

Not all SVTs sound alike.
I've got an early 70s Blue Line and an early 2000s SLM SVT-CL.
I normally run the SVT-CL through a Hartke 4.5 XL and all the band leaders that have heard it love it.

I ended up with the Bright switch on, the Deep switch off, treble set to 1:30, mids at 12:00, bass at about noon... which got pulled back to 9:30 when the PA was brought up to speed. Mid selector switch ended up on 4. Dialling in the tone was a breeze, which previously was not the case with pretty much any other Ampeg setup I've ever used. I was knocked out by how easy it was to make this setup perform. It makes me wonder if the SVT 4 Pro is similar enough to give it a go. It's cheaper and lighter, but I'm guessing sounds very different.

I don't think anything else sounds as good as an all tube SVT head. They're worth the lug. A good two wheeler is very helpful with those heads. I use the heads with various 4 ohm Ampeg cabs, I just ordered a Genzler 410 cab too.

Had a similar experience last year. Played an area awards show and a full SVT/Fridge was backline. I played my P Bass for the first time. Plugged in and DAMN! The rig sounded really good.
