finally getting a real amp... too many questions!

yes, my thinking keeps changing as I am going to local stores and scouring the internet... but i think one 15 is what i should get. UNLESS i can get a totally authentic match for that head than i might just have to hear that happen together.

like maybe this: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I would also highly recommend the BagEnd S15-D. These cabs have been around for a long time and deliver an excellent tone for the money. They can be found in very good used condition for under $300 each. What makes these cabs so special is that they are very loud and efficient. They are also rugged, fairly compact, and weigh about 45lbs each. They don't have a lot in the deep bass category, but really shine in the mids. The low-mids are beefy and the high-mids will cut through easily.

I'm afraid you've STILL got a practice amp, 100w isn't enough anymore, it was enough in the 70s but not now
I wouldn't be so quick to write off 100 watts. (And this is coming from a guy who runs 2000 watts!) In general, 1000 watts is about twice as loud as 100 watts. And 200 watts is only slightly louder than 100 watts. So with efficient speakers she should be able to be heard over a guitar and drums if they are not too loud. The BagEnd S15 is a very sensitive speaker, 103dB @ 1W. A pair starts you off at 106dB. Granted that is measured at 1KHz. So like most speaker specs, it should be taken with a very large grain of salt. But, for a 100 watt head, this is not a bad place to start. In general, though, I would recommend something around 500-600 watts @ 4 ohms as a decent general purpose head.

Welcome to the addiction. You could be totally satisfied with 100 watts and a 215 cabinet. You might not be. It's all about experimentation until you find what you really want to play. For modern stuff that sounds pretty vintage without spending a fortune, the Ampeg PF series stuff is pretty nice.
