Finally got a chorus pedal (Tech 21 Bass Boost)

Had to wait two months for the Bass Boost Chorus to come in to A/B against the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe.
Worth the wait. Has a nice lush sound in pretty much all the settings and never a loss of bass.
What I really liked most was the Detune without modulation, The Boost to compensate for any volume loss when engaged, and the silent switching. There is also a setting for flange if needed, but I have no real need of that. The MXR was great also, but the Tech 21's ability to boost and the detune gave it the edge to my ears. Usually I prefer simplicity, with less knobs to tweak, but this pedal is pretty intuative with the few extra knobs and way more flexible.
If anyone is loooking at the MXR vs the Tech 21, I'd go with the Tech 21. Nothing against the MXR which had a really "pretty" sound as well, but the Tech had that sound too with a couple of extra touches. Of course just my opinion.

I bought one, and like you was very happy about it. It has since come off my board, however, because at the end of the day I found it very sterile. I also bought it for it's ability to turn off the LFO. There's just something cold about this pedal and it hates to be driven by fuzz or distortion. It's currently collecting dust on the shelf. I hope you have a different experience man.

My favorite chorus pedal. If I had room for it on my board, it would immediately replace my MXR BCD. I have to disagree with @MGR about it not liking to be driven by distortion. I absolutely loved it downstream of dirt. As for it sounding cold and sterile... I think all choruses are that way to my ears, which is part of the charm. I've never heard a chorus effect that I thought didn't make the tone a little chillier :p

I agree with Silky to a degree about the slight sterility of a chorus pedal. Seems that in certain settings the sound can get a bit sterile or "metallic", but it seems that comes with certain settings only. I didn't find that in the Detune mode only, with Depth and Speed set near minimum.
Oh well, to each his/her own. Hope everyone finds the right pedals to make their bass sing.
