Finally got around to finishing the visual changes on my 4003AC

I was instantly intrigued when that model came out but also immediately hating the green markers.
It's beautiful, but the bass looks so 'heavy'. I still like it.
I'm also digging the simplicity of controls on the amp head.

Definitely! It's a gorgeous looking bass stock, too, but tricky to play with the covers on. And allthough the green in the inlays is stunning itself, in my eyes they missmatched with the rest of the bass, especially after taking off the covers and exposing more black.

it is funny how peeps are, my honest favorite part of these were the green markers...lol, i actually owned 2 of these, ended up selling them both to pay off some debt...wish i had kept one

It looks way better, IMO. I could never get down with Al's green inlays or the dual ashtrays.

Bought it because I've been looking for a cheap 212 to mod for a while. I probably shouldnt tho, just because of the rarity/history and aestethic. Guess I could just copy the cab instead...

Don't get me wrong, it's not valuable or anything, just rare and (to me) interesting

By the way, do you guys think it's worth trying to track down a matching speaker to the one thats still ok?
Or getting it repaired if possible? It'd probably be wise to keep it original but, I really really really want a purple 212 @ 500w @ 4ohm....

Could there be any potential issues with the intergrity of the cab itself if I pretty much 10x the wattage it was built for? I'm talking full re-wire aswell ofcourse.

You should start a new thread on this topic in Amps and Cabs. The speaker wizards will want to know dimensions of the cabinet and other arcane data unknowable to us hoi polloi.

I've listened to them, it's a bit too heavy for my taste, but it has its place. Technically I bought this because I couldnt get a hold of a 4003SW. Initially I didnt like it, but it all changed when I got the covers off. I have/had 3 other ricks, and this ones my favourite by far.

I mostly play around the "neck" pup, resting my thumb on the chrome surround. Lets me slap it hard with my fingers and get some insane clanky overdriven sounds. I also like to play up at the neck, where the thumb rest is. But thats mostly when I need the even pushback from the string tension for some acrobatics. I really like the "bouncy" string feel for certain parts.. The sound goes exponentially dark the further up you play ofc. The tones you can get out of this is pretty wild.
Our fellow Tber @tsarter had flats on his if I remember correctly.

I play psychedelic death funk, heavy rock inspired blues, prog, stuff like that. The occasional jazz tune, you know, the usual.
