Finally got the P bass tone ive been chasing

75th commemorative P.

I've played many P basses, this isn't my first... Yet it's the first time I've gotten "that sound".

Does fender really gatekeep their tone behind these 1962 custom shop pickups?

Or do I just like this bass because it's made from my favorite wood (ash) and it's strung thru the body?

Either way I'm stoked.

Fellow P players....educate me

and I definitely prefer the contoured neck heel, lightweight tuners, and over all weight of the Am Pro II.

What the hell am I talking about?

I just noticed the Commemorative has the contoured neck heel.

Now I'm back to being annoyed!

It's the weight...right? and gold...yeah? I don't like gold. Or basses over 9lbs. Or having to buy a tort pickguard... right?

I AM HAPPIER WITH THE AM PRO II....right?

right?

Here's an audio clip. Tone at 50% roughly and a lil overdrive and compression.

I've said this elsewhere, but I thought these seemed very meh when Fender first announced them. Then I saw and played one in a local store. 😮
That one was too heavy, but I later found a lighter, used one in like-new condition and snagged it. Fantastic bass in every respect! The case is nice, too.
