After years and years of experimenting, changing effects and so on, now I'm proud to show you my super-funky bass pedalboard:

- Very compact (600 x 300 x 90 mm case)
- Dead noise (very silent)
- Superwet

Signal chain:
Bass --->
1) Boss OC-2 (Japan - January 1987)
2) Musitronic Mutron Octave Divider (BYOC 100% clone - personal graphic layout)
3) Electro Harmonix Enigma Bass Q-Balls
4) Akai Deep Impact SB-1
5) Chunk Systems Brown Dog
6) Roland AP-7 Jet Phaser
---> Amp

I'd wager Paul Turner.

Awesome board by the way. Pretty close to exactly what I would want in a purely funk board.

I'd have the Brown Dog after the octavers (lots of fun synthy sounds going octave/gated fuzz/filter.

And I might throw the OC-2 into a parallel loop like the Boss LS-2 so you can blend the octave down tone (or just a clean tone) with the other effects. Sometimes the Deep Impact can get a bit thin sounding.

Nice pedalboard, Tekken! You get the funk sounds at your feet!:thumbsup:

The lonely effct that we share is the old Boss Oc-2. Great octaver for me. And The Akai Deep Impact and the Roland MIJ-7 Jet Phaser really kill me. But probably I´d put some clone of the envelope filter Mutron III instead the Enigma Q-Balls.

But this is only my personal choice.

I've had the chance to get an original Musitronics Mutron III from a UK seller (in Europe we have 220-240 V, 50 Hz): I've never had it but I think that is (a bit?) better than the Q-Balls, although the EHX is very wet and good sounding, expecially on "very active" basses...
... but It would have taken too much space in this pedalboard (and, at the moment, I don't want to sell that and buy another bigger one)

The Brown Dog is placed after the octavers in the signal chain ;)
For synthy tones, I've tried and purchased lot of bass synth and effects combinations (EHX Bass Micro Synth, Digitech Bass Synth/Wah, Korg G5, Chunk Systems Agent 00Funk Mark II + Chunk Systems Brown Dog, Lovetone Meatball + Fuzz etc...): now, after all, I think that the Deep Impact is the best device to get the best sounding bass synth tones (with also good tracking ;) ).

Interesting, but I've not more space in the pedalboard for another stompbox (and for its power supply)...
I've never noticed any "thin" sound from the Deep Impact (unlike the Korg G5, that can be thin sounding with some settings).

Thats pretty sweet. Congrats. I had an Enigma QBalls on my funk board for a while. It was ok, but didn't last. The Deep Impact and Markbass Super Synth are on my (current) wishlist. One of these days...

The Enigma is in my head. I´m glad with my MXR BEF and to me it seems working so well when I´m slapping or soloing. But when I´m fingering a rythm with the drums, I´d like get a tone fatter than MXR delivers.

The SA BEF can do a ton of sounds, but after owning both, the BEF can't cop the Qballs' sound, IMO. The Qballs is much more versatile than it gets credit for. And the BEF is actually bigger than the Qballs. Does the difference in shape, and having top-mounted jacks, make the BEF work better on your board?

Yes, the BEF is a bit bigger, and the top-mounted jacks work better for me. The Enigma does it's thing reasonably well. I get more usable sounds from my BEF.

You guys have me second-guessing myself tho. Gonna dig out the QBalls and we'll see whats what..
