Finally hit a bass player milestone

It came up at our "jam" last Friday night.. I know the bassline and jumped in on BGV's.
Someone reminded me of the "bass lead" before I came to it..
LOL, it's not really a lead, but the same bassline played throughout - without the rest of the band.

Well, it's got a tiny little piece of flair at the D before the verse comes back in. That's about as much as a bass solo as I'm comfortable with.

And yeah, playing and singing it is a little tricky. But I'm happy to announce that I very recently met this important milestone.

BEG is one of my favorite songs to sing and play. That and JCM'Sversoin of wild Night. Great tunes from Van Morrison
Thanks for your indulgence
Duke

You mean Meshell N'deggiocello's version of Wild Nights, right?!?

I don't get the dislike for this song either. Heck , I've been playing it for over 40 years now. Fun song and has a nice 8 bar bass solo so the bass player can even get some spotlight time and in all my years of playing it I can only remember one time that it didn't fill the dance floor and absolutely nobody was dancing to anything that night anyway.

It's because many of us have played the song a billion times. I personally don't mind it, as there's a lot of room for interpretation. However, if you get stuck playing it like the original, or if the other players are overplaying and not allowing for some room to move in it, I'm so out on this song.
