Hello everyone. As stated I'm finally learning how to play bass. I started playing saxophone when I was 7. Family life sucked so I stayed glued to it, and got pretty good. Studying sax players early on I found out the other instrument I really liked was the bass. Also led to me playing the Baritone sax eventually. 2 videos I came across back in the late 80's early 90's were really big for me. First one was Miles Davis in Europe somewhere. Joe Mcreary had a really interesting solo that I still think was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The second, and probably the one that stuck the most was a Kenny G video Where Vail Johnson had a long solo and interview that I loved. Then I fell in love with Rush and Primus. Bootsy Collins was fun and crazy.
So recently a friend from church gave me her Ibanez GSR190. And they need a bass player at church. So, a month before my 40th bday I'm learning to play bass. I made the mistake of playing a pretty nice fender Jazz the church has and instantly hated my Ibanez. So my friends told me about reverb and now I have a Rockbass Streamer NT coming in a few days.
Anyway, I have already learned a lot just by lurking around these forums so I thank you for that, and I look forward to learning more from you all.
PS. Does anyone have any tricks on how to learn how to read bass clef when you already know treble clef?

I’ve always played by ear, but recently set out to learn/improve my SN reading. It’s tough! Most helpful for me is seeing intervals rather than notes. More tips here
