Finally revisiting a fretless project

My brain just will not shut up. The artist side of me is constantly becoming interested in new things, and different ideas. Case in point… i have a few builds currently going, and yet my brain is busy designing the next bass down the road. Honestly, sometimes it's a PITA.

Anyway, it's a beautiful day to be in the shop, working. Which of course means that I'm inside designing the next build.

Mahogany body (1.5" thick)
Maple neck with long tenon (to pickup cavity)
Pau ferro fretboard - 20
frets
1.6" nut
2+2 headstock
Belly cut and arm bevel
Hipshot tuners and bridge (possibly)
Music Man style pickup (probably Nordstrand)
Controls - V, T, B - plus coil switch


I did a "quick and dirty" full size drawing on posterboard…. Im old school

Here's what I'm thinking….

Now that I've drawn that out, maybe i can get back to my regularly scheduled program….

i wanted something classic looking, but wasnt a p bass or jazz bass body shape…. something that would not scare away the traditionalists, but still was a little bit unique. Something that I can play on most of my gigs

It'll be a 7 screw neck attachment…recessed ferrules in the back. And the dotted line shows the body contour on the backside where the neck meets up. I may refine this further.
