Finally - the ultimate amp stand!

OK, so I've been looking for the longest time for a simple, easy to carry yet sturdy folding stand for my rig. I've built things, tried milk crates etc. but none as good as this. I've considered buying one of the folding dedicated amp stands but didn't want to shell out $50.

Found this folding stool at WalMart for 10 bucks. Folds flat, rated at 250 lbs, stands 13 inches tall. I use it with my RevSound 210 and it fits perfectly - very sturdy, and by getting my rig up off the floor I can hear better. Also puts the controls at a better height for adjustments on the fly as needed. Platform is 6 inches by 15 inches - should support most cabs. I now have my load-ins down to 1 trip using a folding hand truck. Cab on the bottom, cab stand on top with my gear bag on it. Bass gig bag on one shoulder and head in a mixer bag on the other and I'm in.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I bought something similar to the OP, but figured I'd keep looking. There are folding dirt bike stands that look like they could provide more stability, but I have yet to try one.

About 5 years ago, a good friend got me one of these composite folding carts at Costco. It has retractable wheels, and folds into a VERY flat easy to manage package that takes up a small area in my vehicle. I use THIS as my cabinet /amp stand. It really isolates the bass from the floor, which is desirable in most live situations now. The other great thing, is, I just load my cabs onto it out at the car- wheel it in, and just plug everything in, and after the drummer finalizes his setup- I simply wheel it into position. Played a gig last week like that, a breeze, bass was loud, clear, and not boomy at all. No, it doesn't point up at my ears.. but the clarity is increased, and it's ideal with two cabs. My bandmates who previously said I was too loud with only a 2-10, now are fine with the same volume level, but now, my cab is off the floor.

YES! Take a look at the link in my post, and the multiple photos of it there. It shows it folded up. The wheels are mounted on a rail, which retracts a lot like aircraft landing gear! The handle folds flat. Other than the thickness of the platform itself, and the diameter of the handle folded down on top, it's really a very small package. I've had small carts, but the wheels stick up- preventing you from putting anything on top of it in the car/ van. If you buy one, I guarantee you'll love it. Here it is on a gig in Minden NV., at the Carson Valley Inn. Bad pic, but you can see the cart its' on. Believe it or not, this BX 500 and BRX 10.2 cab fills the room with clear, loud bass, and it has too much bottom! I always have to be careful with the bass knob on the amp!

Back in my Lionheart era we “perloined" a few tray stands from a hotel where we played before they closed. We saved them from going into a bin. Very much in the same style but taller. They held a "Voice Of The Theatre” cabinet with a massive Altec horn on top. One each side of the stage. I still have one in my garage.

I got a few of those that someone was discarding. They come in very handy for amps and stuff. I have done a few gigs with my Markbass Minimark sitting sideways on one for personal monitoring.

Love that chair. Very quiet in studio. Office chairs can squeak. Can lean half stand on it at stool height. Not an amp stand though.
