Finding a drummer

Craigslist, go to gigs, And just ask everyone. I have been super lucky and have have 4 awesome, awesome drummers. 2 of them were childhood friends. One was from a band I adored and went to a lot of there gigs. The last one I scored off of craigslist. I meet and jammed with 2 others that were great players, nice, "normal" guys but we just didn't gel muscly one. Both were friends of friends type situations. They are out there but you have to actively look for them. Just bring it up,.... a lot. You would be amazed at the fact that the guy that sells you beer at the corner store has a brother that has played drums for 13 years and kills it.

Depending on what part of the country you live in,I have gone to music stores and have had success. Just go in there and tell them what youre lookin for and some of them may let you put a"wanted drummer to jam with" sign on a bulletin board in the store.

I live in San Diego county in California, so most of the music stores have been pushed out by guitar center.

That is always a sad thing to hear. The corporate monster continues its rampage...

As for finding a drummer - network. Ask any and every musician you know. Try CL, and be ready to be disappointed for awhile, but eventually you may find someone that way.

Where I live Craigslist is usually the easiest way to get in contact
with drummers. Find a good one or one that is into doing originals
is something different.

There are also a lot of hourly rehearsal studios here on Long Island
so places like that are always a good place to hang a flyer.

I will never hang a flyer in Guitar Center or Sam Ash but if it your
only option why not.

I have found finding a drummer is the hardest things to do. It takes
time an patience. Do not settle. Drummers are a bass players best friend.
