Double Bass Finger board quality

I have a Wav4. There there is some normal wear on the board and I can see the finish is thinning on the G,D string areas. No problem with that.
However, there are small, somewhat rough lines running parallel with the G,D strings that are obvious multiple cracks. It's not like the strings will go into them or anything. I'm concerned about the longevity of the instrument and intonation.

I have no idea just how perfect the finger boards are across the spectrum of pricepoints.

Any thoughts?

I have read of a few quality issues with a batch of Wav4's im afraid. I have heard of FB issues concerning poorly dried wood ...

"I bought a new NS Wav on March 18 this year. I tested one bass a week ago, but it had a very bad neck, bent like a "v" and impossible to adjust. The shop got another one that felt very good, with passive piezo pickups, four strings and a really beautiful cherry red laquer. But today, the 20 of March, the fingerboard had cracked completely, due to bad craftsmanship or bad/bad dried material."

There were some fingerboard issues with a group of WAV4 basses. All have been replaced, and that issue was what kept any WAV4 basses off the market for the last few months, until Ned Steinberger is happy with the results.
