Would it change the tone any if i took the tolex vinyl off of my cab, sanded the wood smooth, and covered it with some kind of varnish or wood finish??

You're kidding. I can't believe that. That is so sad. And lame.billfitzmaurice said:I just read a post on a hii-fi site where an 'audiophile' was going to use a $100 per ounce varnish on the block of wood that his CD player sits on, convinced that it will sound better.![]()
It won't. But for $100 an ounce he'll convince himself that it does.
will33 said:No, it won't change the sound at all but you'll have a real mess to clean up, lots of old hard glue/cement. If you're looking for a nice looking wood finish you'll be sanding until both your arms fall off, might be easier to recover it with new tolex or spray it with truckbed liner or something.
