Yeah, I have a Finnish passport.
My mom keeps telling my younger brother he should go in the Finnish military. I just asked him, he said he doesn't know if he wants to. The article did say something about non-military duty though. I have an exception so I'm not required to serve in Finland. My brother's the one who has to worry about it later on.
One thing I know though is I want to go to college in Finland. I'll probably go to Helsinki. My second cousin from Cyprus got in the other year. I speak fluent Finnish, so that won't be a problem. I have family in Finland too, an there's no college tuition fee. Only thing is I don't know what I want to study.
Implosion, you're #6. We're getting nice bunch of Finns here. We're drawing you out of hiding.

If you like Finland and you have Finnish family members, then that's good enough. I saw something about a Finnish club here in CT last year, might be the same one you mentioned. My mom would have wanted to go but we didn't end up going. Last Christmas an Estonian in our town invited us to a Christmas church service at the local church. The Estonian population in our town had gotten a time to use the church. I understood part of what they were saying (the whole service was in Estonian) as did my mom and even my dad (he understands some Finnish), but my brother was bored the whole time. I'm not really a church person, but it was fun to be around people speaking a similar language.
