First Bass Build Need Advice on Pickup Placement and Depth

I've recently started my first bass build, I'm doing a body that's very similar to the shape of a Fender Jaguar Bass and making it a 35" scale, 5 string bass. Anyways, I need some advice when it comes to pickup placement I'm going to order an NPJ5S Hum cancelling P/J set (link: NPJ5S Hum-Cancelling Set ) and don't exactly know where to put them on the body or how deep they should be. I know there's no specific answer but can someone tell me what they've found works best for them? It would be much appreciated, Thank You!

IMO the split in the split set should be at the 3rd octave; with the J centered at the
4th. But there are no set rules, you can get less treble by mounting the split set closer to the neck. Or more treble mounting the J closer to the bridge. With a 44~45 mm (1.75 inch) deep body, a 25~26 mm (1 inch) rout should be plenty, because the finger/fret board sits proud of the body by ~6 mm (1/4 inch.)

It is worth experimentig with a simple rig to find out in which position you like the sound most. I learned a lot about pickup placement doing that.
