Any particular reason for planing the fretboard down to 3/16"? My personal preference is for at least a full 1/4" on my builds. I just like thick fingerboards.
Good point. I guess I'm already on chance #2, but I like this neck a lot and I don't want to go for 3 just yetTriple-check all the measurements on bridge height and fingerboard above body plane, maybe a quick and dirty mockup with the bridge screwed to a 2x4? No second chances with a neck-through! You don't want to be cutting the bridge in or shimming it up.
Honestly, just that the tusq nut I have doesn't sit high enough to clear the frets if I installed it the way I planned to (Gibson style, between the fretboard and the headstock laminate). Maybe I need to look for a taller nut?
