Really nice!

One thing I'd consider is not doing that 'bump out' where the lower horn and neck/body meet. It seems that would get in the way. Otherwise, I like your design!

Yeah, I'll decide if it stays when I've made the template. It think it looks nice and the fretboard is 24 frets, so the access will be ok for me. Another reason why it is there is to create a decent neck pocket..

I have got a question considering the wood.. or actually, two questions:

I want to make it a bolt-on neck construction, with a single piece neck, but I want to make the body from more pieces (as you can see in the design). Will such construction be decent?

And another one.. when I was in the construction shop (don't know how you call this, but it is a kind of DIY 'supermarket'..) I saw that they have different kind of hardwoods, already planed and in all different sizes, so I guess this wood be perfect for my body! It's not tonewood, but hey.. it's wood, isn't it?

Here I held up some pieces (costing around 30 to 40 dollars):

(Ash / Sucupira / Mahogany / Sucupira / Ash)

Then I want to make the wings of mahogany and maybe an oak top:

What do you think?

Yeah, that pre-planed wood looks like it would make things easy. :)

That's my idea too.. :smug: and what I find strange is that it is relatively cheap.. if I'll build my body from those 5 strips and 4 mahogany parts for the wings, it'll cost me 85 dollars (without the top). And if I would order a 2 piece mahogany body blank I'll be set back 170 dollars..

yeah, and i do ever so like the looks of thoughs kinda squished bodys. like they were the same size and then just compacted. im thinkin about doin that sometime

They're sweet :D... can't wait to start!

yeah, thats why i buy all my lumber straight from the mill, just roughed. its amazingly cheap, my rainbow bass, the wood was 152.57, i priced it all planed and shipped here, over 400. but hey, i have a 15.5" planer, so im good :D
