Double Bass First Compressor Pedal

Hey everyone,

So lately I've been looking to try a compressor pedal. I've never really used one before because I never really thought I needed one. But recently I've been doing some solo bass stuff and I've been getting quite a bit of mud and not enough actual tone out of my bass.

So now I want to get a compressor pedal. Since I've never used a compressor before I'm willing to try any brand. But my one preference is something that will work well with bass and electric guitar, since I play a little guitar on the side.

Thanks,
David

P.S: My bass is a 2012 Musicman Stingray 5H and my guitar is a PRS SE Custom 24 Floyd, if it means anything.

Before you buy a comp, try cutting your low mids. :)

IME, a comp that works well for bass will generally work well for guitar. But not necessarily vice versa. The trick with bass is getting one that doesn't rob low end.

Well, it means you're in the wrong forum. ;) You're in double bass accessories. You might want to re-post this in effects on the BG side, or request a mod to move it. Probably get more suggestions.

My personal favorite stompbox comps are the Markbass Compressore (for warm tonal coloration) or the MXR M87 (if something more transparent is desired).

Also be sure and check out the reviews and other info on ovnilab.com.

Thanks for the advice man.

And sorry for misplacing the post. I just started using the Tapatalk app to get on the forums and I'm not quite used to it yet. [emoji28]
