Double Bass First double bass help.

i've been convinced that the Engelhardt EM-1 Maestro Bass is a good starter db. I have never played a double bass but have played the electric bass for 2 years and something about a double basses sound just gives me the chills. I really like Charles mingus tone really warm and jazzy. Any advice would be helpful.

+1 to reading the links mentioned above.

Be slow to buy. Brand names, fancy model descriptions, etc. mean much less with double basses than they do with bass guitars.

Remember, "Marry in haste, repent at your leisure." Double basses are much easier to buy than they are to sell...
