First gen classic vibe or Sire P5r?

I have an opportunity to pick up a first gen classic vibe 60s p bass locally for more or less the same price as a sire p5/R. Which one should I shoot for?

I love the older CVs, but I'd probably pick up the newer Sire. They are generally nice basses from the ones I have tried.

The early chinese CV's, and the chris aiken, matt freeman and eva gardner signature P basses are AMAZING!

Sire P5/P5R have roasted hard maple necks (which removes moisture, oils and sugar, creating a more stable structure, making the neck less vulnerable to temperature and humidity changes), they have rolled fingerboard edges, a real bone nut, and are built to a high spec. Plus they have a warranty and depending on where you buy, a return period.

By comparison I don't know the condition of the Squire, but they generally are real pretty.

Note that the screw holes for the Squire bridge aren't the same as standard Fenders in case you want to replace the bridge....

Love the CV60P much, and i can't stand with the Moose headstock on Sire bass......

I'm sure the Sire is a great bass, but I KNOW the MIC Squier CV 60's Precision is an excellent bass. Knowing that, I would personally get the Squier if it's in good condition.

Like Yahboy said, the headstock on the sire is not pretty, and the Squier is Fender all the way.

And OMG the CV NECK! A joy to play.

I've been really happy with both my P5 and P7. I just put some DR Fat Beams on both of them and they sound phenomenal! I'm sure you'll be happy with either choice.

I went to Andertons music today to take a look at a sire p5r and a squire classic vibe 60s p bass. I played both basses. Well the sire was head and shoilders above the squire and i could get a very simular sound for the p bass sound. Andertons music would not price match Thomann andertons say they price match. so ive ordered up one from Thoman music on a 5 day back order. I ve purchased from andertons many times and had great deals. This time no good.

No surprise, because current day Indonesia Squier Classic Vibe are rebranded vintage modified line.

I been own 5 unit Indo CV50P and FSR 70P myself and all no longer to keep.
My 2014 china Squier Matt Freeman P just smoke them more than 10 miles.....
