First Mod Project

Greetings All,

Looking into doing my very first modification on a Mitchell MB-200. I want to rip out the active EQ and go with a passive V-V-T configuration.
From what I've read, I've got passive pickups (split-coil & single-coil, PJ configuration) and 250k pots across the board.
Would I run into problems going with all 500k pots (with a .047 Orange Drop cap on the tone pot)? Or would 300's on the volumes and a 500 on the tone be a better choice?
Any guidance would be much appreciated for this newbie looking to go "under the hood" for the first time.

Generally 500k should work fine with passive bass humbuckers in all positions. Other option I think is 250k. That is what typical in Starts with single coils. The passive tone control, IMO, sucks for response with either option.

Thinking of going the SansAmp route, so I'll be able to address the question of tone on several fronts.

500K allows more treble through. You can easily take treble out, but adding it in with a preamp or EQ generally introduces more noise. Go with 500k all around.
